Based in New York City, Uprising Promotions was founded in 2013 by former professional boxer Ronson Frank, who retired as an undefeated light heavyweight following a 17-fight career. Frank comes from a high-pedigree boxing family and has been surrounded by the sport since he was a young child. His brother, Raul, fought the late Vernon Forrest on two occasions for the IBF welterweight title, and his brother, Steven, challenged Bernard Hopkins for the IBF belt when Hopkins was amid his legendary middleweight championship run.
A packed house witnessed an incredible night of boxing and entertainment at the Léman Ballroom in New York City, as Uprising Promotions officially returned to action on May 29th for Broad Street Brawl in association with Bigvision Community. Headlining the show was former NBA Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams, who made a successful amateur boxing debut against a very game Sam Khatib to earn an unanimous decision victory.
